Producer-led. Consumer-backed. Built for resilience.

Our Story & Roots

The American Food Sovereignty Group is rooted in the legacy of Reminisce Angus Beef and Big West Management. Our story starts with a simple philosophy: breeding cattle for the reasons they became the most popular breed on the planet—calving ease, milk, and marbling.

A Commitment to Taste

We have concentrated our genetic vision on taste, which is a combination of flavor and tenderness. Not all tender beef has good flavor. Reminisce Angus is known to have a measurable difference in taste. This philosophy has helped us navigate through the common industry urges to just make them bigger.

Bryan and Marcia Mussard

For over 20 years, Bryan and Marcia Mussard have successfully operated and grown Reminisce Angus into one of Montana’s premier angus seedstock herds. Bryan bought his first registered cows in 1984. Today, they run the day-to-day operations from top to bottom.

Bryan serves as owner and CEO, overseeing everything from genetics and nutrition to marketing. Marcia manages feeding, artificial insemination, and maintains the heart of the ranch home. Together with their children, Talitha and Silas, they have built an operation grounded in hard work and family values.

Preserving the West

We have taken it upon ourselves to preserve the West the best way we know how: helping our hard-working customers—ranch families—preserve their ranches in their communities across several western states. We are launching American Food Sovereignty to connect these producers directly to consumers, ensuring resilience and trust in our food supply.
